When I was editor of American Bee Journal, I published a wonderful article by Kane M. on how bees had brought him hope while he was serving his term in jail. He’s an incredibly gifted writer and during his incarceration gained time to reflect on mistakes he had made and how he could improve his life. While behind bars, he learned about beekeeping and as soon as he was released purchased his first hive. His story inspired many others. Through a generous donation, 2 Million Blossoms has created the Kane Prisoner’s Fund. All money donated to this fund will be used to provide subscriptions to incarcerated individuals that contact us requesting reading materials. If you have a family member behind bars, who would enjoy learning about pollinators, please be in touch and send us their mailing address.
